Ok sooo I think it is safe to say that Christmas is officially coming! Christmas songs are playing on the radio, Christmas light switch on’s have kicked off, aaaaand I just purchased my advent calendar for this year!
I have never actually bought myself a fancy advent calendar before, but have always been in awe of them, so this year I decided it was time to splash out.
Unlike the majority of these blog posts, this isn’t exactly orientated around saving money…this was a bit of a splurge (although I got 20% off so technically it’s a bargain right?).
The calendar I have opted for this year is the ASOS face and body advent calendar (available here), which I only discovered a couple of weeks ago! I had originally wanted to purchase the Body Shop advent calendar but that sold out SOOO fast (cry). That being said, I do think it worked out for the best as the ASOS calendar includes EVERYTHING: make-up, skincare, haircare and so on.
As the calendar only arrived today, I will not be doing any product reviews yet as I believe FIRMLY in keeping the surprise alive, but I wanted to share my excitement with you all. Ok… so I do know what is in there, but it will still be a really fun surprise to see which product I get each day, especially as they are ALL. SO. GOOD. There’s a mixture of 24 mini/full size products and the packaging is sooo cool – it is literally like having 24 presents to open. Side-note too, the box/packaging is 100% recyclable, with the box being designed specifically for reuse. Given how gorgeous the box is, I will definitely be keeping it, along with the other boxes, for make-up storage. Side-note number 2: if you are a Birchbox subscriber, which I was, keep the boxes to store your make-up in!! I NEVER buy make-up storage and opt for eco-friendly alternatives.
Once I have managed to try all of the products, I will DEFINITELY be doing a review of my favourites .
This was a pretty costly buy, but it didn’t break my bank AND the fact it is recyclable definitely redresses the balance, albeit minimally.
Priced at £70, I was able to use a student discount code for 20% off and free delivery so I paid £56. Whilst this may be excessive for an advent calendar, you get so many products, including the likes of Clinique, Nars and Sleek. When you consider what is in there, this actually is a genuine bargain. Get ready, it contains…

When I (well, my calculater), did the maths for this, it worked out at £2.33 per product which really is insane! I love how there is such a wide variety of products as opposed to sticking to one category – I cannot wait for 1st December to open my first treat.
To any students reading this, get that student discount code and buy ASAP as it is selling out fast!!!!
I will be sure to provide a review on this for you all, but in the meantime: treat yourself to a fabulous advent calendar, get Michael Bublé playing and get yourself into the Christmas spirit!!
